The WWF Tejo Initiative in Portugal worked with farmers in the Tejo river valley to mitigate the negative impacts of intensive monoculture. Through pilot projects, it identified and promoted good practices, such as creating hedgerows and improving soil management, to restore ecological functionality and improve water use efficiency.
